fr. Sophie El-Assaad est une artiste transdisciplinaire basée à Tiohtià:ke/ Montréal, travaillant dans les arts visuels et théâtraux. Son travail couvre la conception et mise en scène théâtrale, la photographie, la peinture, la sculpture, et l'installation. Sa pratique actuelle aborde les thèmes de l'identité diasporique médiatisée par des cadres sociopolitiques, le traumatisme et la technologie. L'artiste est titulaire d'une maîtrise en arts visuels de l'Université d'Ottawa (2024) et d'un baccalauréat en beaux-arts avec spécialisation en conception théâtrale de l'Université Concordia (2015). Elle a reçu quatre prix du Théâtre anglais de Montréal et, en 2021, elle a été l'une des trois finalistes du prestigieux prix Jovette Marchessault de Montréal pour son travail en conception. En 2023, elle a eu l'honneur de représenter le Québec en conception de costumes à la Quadriennale de Prague de Performance Design and Space.

en. Sophie El-Assaad is a transdisciplinary artist based in Tiohtià:ke/ Montreal, working in the visual and performing arts. Her work spans theatre design and direction, photography, painting, sculpture and installation. Her current practice addresses themes of diasporic identity mediated through sociopolitical frameworks, trauma, and technology. Sophie holds an MFA in visual arts from the University of Ottawa (2024), and a BFA specialization in Theatre Design from Concordia University (2015). She is the recipient of 4 Montreal English Theatre Awards and in 2021 was one of three finalists for Montreal’s Jovette Marchessault prize for her work in design. In 2023, she had the honour of representing Quebec in costume design at the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space.
